21 November 2024 – At Howden, our journey has always been about people. So, to mark our 30th anniversary, we launched the new Howden Awards to celebrate the unique and extraordinary things our people do to make a difference.

We invited nominations across 14 award categories, each of which reflected one of our four brand truths – the principles that we all share, and which make us uniquely Howden, from how we treat each other at work to how we serve our clients and communities.

The awards recognise a wide range of achievements, from innovation and entrepreneurial excellence to client service and collaboration. They also recognise our colleagues’ incredible initiatives to give back to our communities.

Howden’s first chairman, Richard Elias, was famed for always putting people and clients first, defining our culture that still thrives today. The Richard Elias Awards for Exceptional Client Service celebrate everything Richard stood for – friendship, professionalism, generosity and trust.

An incredible 900 people were nominated, and every one of our 55 territories was represented!

Once the nominations were reviewed and shortlisted, the winners were chosen by an internal panel of senior leaders from across the group. They were announced at the annual Howden Group Conference on 20 November, where our 19,000 colleagues assembled in person and online across the globe.

When our journey began thirty years ago, we were a team of just three people and a loyal dog named Flight, who welcomed everyone at reception with warmth and enthusiasm. This year’s Howden Award winners were honoured with a stunning bronze sculpture of Flight herself, created by renowned sculptor Bruce Little. Each trophy was expertly cast in bronze, meticulously polished, and finished with beeswax. More than just an award, these are pieces of art – a lasting symbol of Howden’s history.
