Howden strengthens Guernsey presence by bringing expert teams together to form a new office
After almost 30 years in Berthelot Street, SPF Private Clients begins new chapter at Harbour House, alongside Howden Channel Island colleagues
Guernsey, October 13, 2026 – Howden, the global insurance intermediary group, has opened a new shared office in Guernsey, bringing together SPF Private Clients (SPF) and Howden Channel Islands Insurance Brokers under one roof.
After almost 30 years, SPF has relocated from its long-standing offices in Berthelot Street to the new modern Howden office at Harbour House, South Esplanade, in St Peter Port. Howden Channel Islands Insurance Brokers has relocated to Harbour House from Lefebvre Street.
SPF is Guernsey's longest-running mortgage broker and has helped thousands of islanders finance their homes over almost three decades. During that time, the business has managed mortgage transactions in excess of £2 billion and has built its reputation around personal service, extensive knowledge of the local lending market and long-standing relationships with clients and professional partners.
Bringing the teams together gives clients easier access to a portfolio of services across Howden in the Channel Islands. These range from mortgages, commercial debt, life insurance and inheritance tax planning to private and commercial insurance, corporate risks for the financial services sector, and specialist captive solutions.
Henry Mowbray, Managing Director, Head of Channel Islands – Broking, said: “Guernsey is a relationship-driven market, and local knowledge matters. Our new office brings our teams together while giving clients easier access to Howden’s specialist expertise and insurance markets beyond the island. It gives us a stronger platform to deliver the best of both: trusted local advice backed by a global network.”
Pierre Blampied, Managing Director, SPF Private Clients (Channel Islands), said: “After almost 30 years in Berthelot Street, this marks an exciting new chapter for SPF. The business has grown significantly since 1997, but the personal relationships we have built with clients remain at the heart of what we do. Moving to Harbour House into more modern offices that continue to be in a convenient location for our valued clients.”
Together, Howden’s Channel Islands businesses advise individuals, families, businesses, fiduciaries and professional services firms across Guernsey and Jersey.
SPF became part of Howden in 2022, giving its clients access to the wider capabilities of the Howden group. Howden has continued to expand its capabilities in the Channel Islands, with the establishment of Howden Channel Islands Insurance Brokers Limited and Guernsey-based captive insurance specialist Howden Captive Services.
