The Turkey, Middle East and Africa region and teams of Howden Broking Group have been awarded Broker of the Year at the fifth Middle East Insurance Industry Awards (MIIA) 2018.

The awards gala was held in Dubai on Monday 26 November and recognises Howden TMEA expertise and growth in the region. At the forefront of their nomination was the establishment of a new regional management infrastructure, the launch of HowdenLab, a digital reinsurance platform that brings efficiency and optimal risks placement solutions for cedant companies, and Howden ACP led SMARTIE app for group health insurance plans.

Since the appointment of Atinc Yilmaz as Regional CEO last year, Howden has acquired a majority stake in broker ACP in Turkey, completed the majority acquisition of New Generation Insurance Services Company in Oman, and Howden UAE celebrated its ten year anniversary in Dubai. Through Howden One and the establishment of Howden Puri in Tanzania, the region now covers 16 countries and is one of the fastest growing in the group.

Mr Sivam Subramaniam, editor-in-chief of Middle East Insurance Review and event organiser said, “The judges spent much time and effort discussing the quality of the finalists … I urge the winners to go all out to celebrate their victory and add depth to the market. Stand tall so that you lend prestige to the awards and boost the industry to loftier ideals.”

The sentiment was echoed by Hyperion Chairman Dominic Collins, who attended the awards and encouraged everyone to keep up the momentum and continue to achieve greater heights.
