Howden bolsters its market leading Sports & Entertainment practice with appointment of newly created Head of Entertainment role
Howden, the international insurance broker, announced today that it has appointed Charlie Connell to its Sports & Entertainment practice group in the newly created Head of Entertainment role. The appointment further bolsters Howden’s market leading expertise in the area and cements the firm’s position as the leading global specialist broker in the sector.
Connell joins Howden from EC3 Brokers where he was Head of Contingency and Entertainment, a role he has held for the past four years. In his new role, he will be responsible for developing and delivering creative solutions for clients in the entertainment sector, enabling them to navigate the continued insurance and risk management related challenges posed by Covid-19.
Connell will join after he has fulfilled his contractual obligations, reporting to Duncan Fraser, Head of Sports & Entertainment, Howden.
The announcement of the new role follows the launch of the global Sports & Entertainment practice group earlier this year.
Connell is the latest strategic recruit to Howden Broking as it pursues its ambitious talent acquisition strategy, joining fellow sector experts Ana Matarranz (Employee Benefits) and Naresh Dade (Construction) among many others, who have all joined in recent months.
Duncan Fraser, Sports and Entertainment Global Practice Leader, commented on Connell’s appointment: “Talent is a core focus for Howden, so welcoming Charlie to the team is a fantastic result. His expertise and experience will be of huge benefit for our clients in the entertainment sector, enabling them to plan live events with greater certainty and capitalise on the hugely significant pent-up demand amongst consumers across the globe.”
